Magazine & Editorial Design

Publishing Systems

EvoToca commissioned Banedsgn to create the first issue of One on One Magazine, a digital publication intended to support its marketing efforts and live directly within its website. EvoToca supplied the articles and stylized, image-based artwork; Banedsgn was responsible for establishing the publication’s editorial structure, creative direction, page architecture, visual identity, and interactive experience.

Challenge

With no existing magazine or design system to build from, the project required defining both the publication and the way readers would experience it online. The central challenge was balancing long-form editorial content with animation and interactivity—using motion to support pacing and storytelling without allowing it to compete with the articles themselves.

Approach

We treated interactivity as part of the editorial system rather than an additional layer applied after the layouts were complete. Articles were structured around reading hierarchy, pacing, and content flow first, with motion, video, navigation, and interactive elements introduced where they could reinforce the story or give readers a useful next action.

Solution

We first developed the magazine’s editorial structure and layouts in InDesign, establishing the grid, typography, hierarchy, image treatment, and overall rhythm of the publication. That system was then translated into Visme, where we introduced animated headlines and imagery, motion graphics, GIFs, page transitions, embedded video, interactive navigation, hyperlinks, buttons, and calls to action while preserving the underlying editorial structure.

Impact

The completed issue gave EvoToca a new digital marketing asset that could be embedded directly into its website rather than distributed as a static publication. The format also gave the company the ability to track online readership and interaction, establishing a measurable digital publishing channel and a framework that could be extended to future issues if needed.
